We’ve compiled a list of tips for fun tailgating with your dog…read on!

Tips For Fun Tailgating With Your Dog

First of all, call ahead and find out if dogs are allowed in the tailgating area. Some places have strict policies about pets so get their response before you take Fido with you.

Tailgating with your dog
Tailgating with your dog, or Superman in this case, can be fun. Keenan is up for adoption at Muncie Animal Care & Services. This hunky fella loves people, fun and football!

Second, gather food. You need food. Your dog needs food. What’s tailgating without food? Take some yummy dog treats and snacks and resist the temptation to feed your dog what everyone else is eating or you’re have a mess later. Don’t forget the drinks, for you AND Fido.

Third, don’t forget pet supplies! Things to include would be: dog toys, frisbee, tennis ball, football, dog bone, leash, collar, ID tags, long lead so Fido can have a little more running room if space allows. I’d also include water bowl, food bowl, pet first aid kit, poop scoop bags and some extra towels and cleaning supplies (you never know what kinda weather you’ll have our what kind of messes your dog will get into — or make).

Fourth, if your dog isn’t a social butterfly with strangers and other dogs, you probably don’t want to take him tailgating. You can find other events to take your dog to. This type of event might be to much for him to handle. Safety for your dog and your friends is #1.

Fifth, plan to keep your dog with you while you’re at the game. Don’t leave him in your vehicle!
If you don’t want to take him into the game with you, we can help. We can pick up your dog after you’re done tailgating and take him back to your home with our Pet Taxi service. It’s easy to schedule and if you’d like to use this service at some point, call ahead so you can get your paperwork prepared ahead of time. Want to set up a Pet Taxi service right now? Great, we’d love to take care of that for you.

And Lastly, if you don’t have a dog and want a companion, now is the perfect time to adopt.

Visit your local rescue or animal shelter, look on Petfinder, talk to friends and find your self a new football watching companion.

Have fun tailgating with your dog,
